As leaders in the community, we take responsibility to set the standard for giving generously and volunteering in our community. As real estate experts, we feel the need to provide everyone with a home that suits their needs. As families living in this area, we care about the overall well-being and prosperity of our neighbors and friends. Yesterday, we joined hands with Habitat for Humanity of the St. Vrain Valley, who has been providing affordable housing for low-income families in the towns of Longmont, Lyons, Dacono, Frederick, Firestone, Mead, Niwot, and Erie since 1988.
Not only did our agents and staff volunteer their time and effort yesterday, but they were also joining in with Habitat's mission of building "homes, community, and hope." We get excited to see organizations like Habitat for Humanity help locals become homeowners, and not only build the structure known as home, but also the investment, memories, and security known as home.
Ten of our agents and staff went to the Poplar Grove construction site in Longmont with their hard hats and tool belts on, ready to help build homes. The day began at 9:00am with volunteer training and safety procedures, and then everyone put their work gloves on and went to work putting up walls, putting in doors, painting, caulking, and more for the rest of the day.
We want to not only invest financially into our community, but also invest our time and energy into the improvement and success of our area. Our year began with donating nearly 7,800 meals to Community Food Share. Not long ago, we revealed our WK Real Estate Scholarship at the University of Colorado Boulder Leeds School of Business. Partnering with Habitat for Humanity yesterday was a great success, but it's only the beginning of our vision to #DoMore2018.
