As we continue through these unusually hot summer days, it is very important to maintain your home’s curb appeal. This is true even if you are not planning on selling your home- you always want to maintain the value of your home! With the hot, dry conditions, our lawns are pretty thirsty so, of course, watering is key here. It may be time to add fertilizer to lawn, shrubs and flowers as well. Trim hedges and shrubs, as well as tree limbs that are located near the roof.
As far as your home itself, clean windows and pressure wash your siding and decks if needed. If the paint is looking old, worn and has any peeling, it is a great idea to add a coat of paint. And don’t forget the garage door and what it may need. What does your front door look like? Would it be more impressive with a new coat of paint or stain, maybe new hardware? It’s always in the little details…install new house numbers, kick plates, doorbell buttons or some colorful flowers pots around front door entry!
So walk across the street, take a good look at your home, and ask yourself the following questions:
- What is your “first” impression of your home?
- What are your home’s best features?
- Are there ways to enhance them? -
- Which features should be minimized or improved?
