We set out with big expectations for 2018. We determined to #DoMore2018 with our community, #DoMore with our family and friends, and #DoMore real estate then ever before. As part of that mission, we wanted to make an impact on our community, and to give back to the beloved organizations in our area. As we look back, we're happy to say that we accomplished so much this year. Here's a look back at everything that was a part of our mission to #DoMore2018. We partnered with Community Food Share - one of our local food pantries - a lot this year. At our annual meeting in January, WK Real Estate’s staff and agents donated 160lbs of food and $1,240. WK Real Estate generously matched this number for a total of 320lbs of food and $2,480, equaling almost 7,800 meals! Later in the year, we volunteered our time at their warehouse, sorting, bagging, and repackaging food. In August, we competed in the annual Kickball Klassic and, although we lost the match in a tie-breaking coin toss, we took home the trophy for donating the most to Community Food Share. We also participated in their annual Corporate Challenge, hosted a ballpark lunch benefiting them, and donated even more food and funds.
Starting with the 2018/2019 school year, WK Real Estate began our scholarship for the Leed's School of Business at CU, awarding two $2,500 scholarships every year. After noticing the lack of need-based scholarships, we chose our scholarship to be awarded to students based on financial need, specifically to students local to the Colorado counties of Boulder, Broomfield, Weld, Larimer, Jefferson, and Gilpin.
Habitat for Humanity of the St. Vrain Valley has been providing affordable housing for low-income families in the towns of Longmont, Lyons, Dacono, Frederick, Firestone, Mead, Niwot, and Erie since 1988. In March, ten of our agents and staff rolled up their sleeves and helped out at the Poplar Grove site in Longmont. The day began at 9:00am with volunteer training and safety procedures, and then everyone put their work gloves on and went to work putting up walls, putting in doors, painting, caulking, and more for the rest of the day.
In April, we celebrated 42 years since the conception of WK Real Estate. Since 1976, we have evolved and grown with our community, shaping our services to cater to the needs and values of our customers. As we reflect back on our history, we want to say thank you: to our community, to our agents, to our clients, and to everyone who has contributed to WK Real Estate becoming your trusted source for comprehensive real estate services in this area.
We put our hands behind our words at the Boulder Area REALTOR® Association's annual yard clean up! Don't miss the before and after pictures of the yards we raked and mowed for the elderly in our community.
Some of our agents volunteered their day to help our local community do a spring clean-up on their yards. We enjoyed lending a hand and seeing the finished products afterwards!

We gathered around food and drinks at the end of summer and caught up with our friends and coworkers at our company picnic! We loved enjoying the perfect weather outside, getting to know each other better, and spending time with some amazing people.
For the first year, we sponsored the shuttle services between parking and the festivities at Rhythm on the River, Longmont's signature event. We loved handing out frisbees, spending time with our local Longmont community, and enjoying all that the event had to offer.
It wouldn't be the 4th of July if we weren't sponsoring the amazing fireworks at Boulder's 4th of July at Folsom Field. We love being a part of making this favorite community tradition happen, and we hope to continue to sponsor it for many years to come!
Several WK agents helped served a hot dinner to the guests at Bridge House on two separate nights. Bridge House's Path to Home program focuses on quickly rehousing guests while equipping them with the support and skills they need as they plan the next action steps for their life.
Every year, all of the WK agents spend time delving into the latest real estate news, trends, and practices at our annual retreat. This year, we had a discussion panel with some of our top agents, we heard from keynote speaker Darylle Dennis, and learned about legal issues that agents encounter from Scott Peterson from the Colorado Association of REALTORS®.
With the help of our agents and staff, we donated over 200 pieces of clothing to Dress for Success in Denver. We were thrilled to give so much to this organization that empowers women in the professional endeavors, including professional attire!
We went back to one of our favorite venues, the Hotel Boulderado, for our holiday party. Our friends and family gathered as we celebrated our gratefulness for the year and the holiday season, and connected over delicious food! [gallery link="none" size="medium" ids="48852,48842,48862"]
Share-A-Gift works annually to collect gifts for the children of low-income families within the Boulder Valley School District area during the holiday season. We collected toys at both of our offices to donate and several of our agents volunteered their time to set up and run the "shopping" event for parents. In addition, WK gave $400 to Share-A-Gift as part of our annual commitment to give back to local charities during the holiday season.
