Spring Flowers
Everybody loves a nice, sweet walk amongst a fresh garden bed of flowers! Since it will still be chilly at night and early in the mornings, focus on cold-hardy flowers which will stand a better chance of surviving any late freezes. Easter colors, with pretty pink, purple, and white blossoms should be fairly safe choices.
Make your garden special by picking from these Colorado Spring favorites and discovering the blooms and blossoms they offer you:
Colorado Blue Columbine
This is one that we Coloradans get to lay claim to as our own flower, coming from the buttercup family. As the name suggests, these blossoms predominantly appear as blue flowers, with patches of white interspersed.

Daffodil
These hardy perennials grow in most regions of North America, and typically come in yellow, white, or cream colors.

Hyacinth
The hyacinth is another showy flower, that is also quite fragrant. Predominantly coming in a pale blue or violet color, due to extensive florist cultivation, these beauties are now also available in lilac, pink, cobalt blue, cream, apricot, and red hues.

Iris
There are over 250 species of iris, and almost all of them are “showy” flowers. With blossoms that come in nearly every color of the rainbow, you’re sure to find an iris to your liking.

Native Yarrow
We also have the spindly yet dense yarrow of Colorado. These flowers have long, thin stems that branch out with densely clustered white and pale-yellow blooms.

Pansies
The pansy is actually a hybrid plant that has been cultivated as a garden flower. They blossom with spectacularly bright colors such as blue, multicolor, orange, purple, red, white, and yellow.

Snapdragon
Snapdragon, also known as dragon flowers, are named so for their blooms that resemble the face of a dragon. Their colors reflect it too, as their blooms arrive in fiery red, yellow, bronze, orange, white, and multi-colored varieties.

Sweet Alyssum
Low-growing, but still impressive, the alyssum is a flowering plant from the Brassicaceae family - the same family as broccoli! Flower colors typically show up as pinks, whites, and purples.

Tulips
Last, but not least, we have tulips. These bright bulbs can be planted in Fall and should bloom in spring. They blossom with red, pink, yellow, or white colors.

Springtime flowers are wonderful to enjoy on your own, with your family, or with your significant other. The fresh blossoms as we emerge from winter really emphasize that the seasons are changing. Make sure you find some time to observe the colors, smell the natural fragrances, and embrace the spring scenery this season.
