
The beginning of a new year brings new trends for people to get hooked on. 2020 is no different from the rest. This year brings modernized trends from the past, bold effects, and earthy elements. Here are the interior design trends for 2020.
- Grandmillennial style everything: Grandmillennial style is blending classical design elements (ex. chinoiserie, scallops, natural fiber rugs, ect...) with a contemporary edge. Think modern art and clean lined furniture.
-Bold monochromatics: Be bold by decorating a room in one single color, such as Pantone's color of the year- Classic Blue.

-Layering old and new: Mix antique pieces with more modern pieces in a room. Make the space more personalized by adding in locally made souvenirs from vacations.
-Dark painted doors: Painting interior door adds warmth and character to the space while providing an artistic element.
-Single print drama: covering a room or area in the same or similar print for a dramatic effect.

-Antiqued landscape tapestries: Use a tapestry as a focal point for a room. It brings the beautiful colors of outside into a home while the muted palette of greens, blues, and neutrals serve as inspiration for the colors and textures in the rest of the room.
-Earthy tones: This trend was slowly starting last year with burnt orange and brown colored home decor. These warm colors are more calming and give a homey feel. Some of the more popular colors this year will be chocolate brown, wine, olive green, and yellow ochre.

-Fun bathroom design: Bathrooms, especially power baths, are a great space to experiment in because they're tucked away. Have fun with colors, wallpapers, materials, and decor.
-Painting a room in one paint color: This is similar to bold monochromatics, except you're painting the entire room- ceiling, trim, and all! This makes a room feel chic and enveloping, especially if the walls have lots of millwork or built-ins.
-Performance fabrics: Performance fabrics are fabrics that can withstand water, stains, and mold and mildew, while being durible. They make make every room in the house functional for the entire family- especially kids.
-Bold black and white: Black and white evokes an immediate emotional response while remaining timeless. Try using black and white in floor tiles.

-Black everything: Black furniture, appliances, decor, and everything else is going be a top trend of the year. It can really make a home look high-end, especially paired with white.
-Classicism: Busts and Grecian details are back! They add the perfect perspective to any contemporary vignette. Dress busts up with colorful jewerly or paint them different colors.
-Real plants: Fake plants are out and real plants are in. Placing a plant in a room helps give personality and another dimension to the space.
-Furniture with european-inspired details: Yes, there is such a thing as european furniture. German and Italian influences are found in the sloping of couch arms and legs, the use of metal legs. French influence are found in teh carved details in the wood.

-Quality bedding: You spend about half of your life in bed, so why not have a mattress and sheets that are of good quality.
-Rattan and wicker furniture: Think your grandma's garden furniture brought into the 21st century. It has evolved in fresh and exciting ways from tables and chairs to lighting. They offer the perfect layer to balance modern and traditional style.

-Biophilic design: This is incorporating human design and natural elements, such as recycled wood as furniture or a living wall. It makes the space beautiful while improving mental health and the overall ecosystem.

-Multifunctional spaces: Designated workspaces are becoming less formal and it's time to make that space more functional. Combine your closet with your office or even declutter your office and turn part of that space into a guest room.
-Fire bowls: Are they a work of art or a piece of furniture? These are actually both and happen to be easy to install and use.
