How to get rid of the Blue Monday blues?
As holiday decorations are put away and new year’s resolutions are starting to slip, many across the world experience ‘Blue Monday’. A date that is found to resonate with millions to be considered the “most depressing day of the year” due to short days, being back in the office and new year’s goals not showing the results they want.
While the equation that finds our Blue Monday every year has its speculations, it’s a fact that many find the beginning of a new year to be overwhelming.
That’s why we at, WK Real Estate have put together some activities and tips for how to avoid those Blue Monday’s blues:
1. Sunlight!
It can be hard to find time to get outside when the sun falls behind the Flatirons at 4 p.m. Even if it’s only a short walk outside, sun exposure improves your body’s ability to produce serotonin, which boosts your mood! Serotonin is then converted into melatonin which helps you get a good night’s sleep. Avoid doom-scrolling on your phone for a 5-minute walk outside while the sun is out.
2. Have an Event to Look Forward To
Having something to look forward to throughout the week is a great way to increase excitement. How about visiting Denver’s Colorado vs. The World Rodeo, taking place until Jan 22. Or Spookadelia? An immersive art experience happening in Denver. From Drag Bingo to Open Mic clubs, finding an event to look forward to can always help pull you out of the day-to-day routine.
3. Reorganize your Resolutions!
If you’re finding yourself losing motivation on New Year’s resolutions, it may be time to reset your focus on goal setting. Writing down your goals in a journal, creating a vision board, and setting up goals into smaller checkpoints can help get anyone back on track to succeed.
It’s normal for many to feel unmotivated after the holidays as people settle back into the work week. Don’t expect the third Monday of every January to hold impending doom, managing routines, and getting a bit of natural light can go a long way.
