Last Monday we enjoyed a beautiful 75 degree day, with the autumn leaves falling from the trees, sunshine, perfect weather to enjoy a bike ride or a hike. The next day a cold front moved in and we endured 11.5 inches of snow over a 24 hour period. When we awoke on Wednesday morning there was a magical glow from the sunrise on the snow covered mountains.
The first snow of the season had graced our communities, and unfortunately wreaked some havoc along the way. Our trees hadn't fully shed their leaves yet and the heavy snow contorted the shapes of the trees and caused many branches to break. Unfortunately, power outages were rampant and some people were left without power for over 24 hours. By the weekend the power was back on and the cleanup had begun. Extreme and fickle weather is the norm along the Front Range where it can be 75 degrees one day and snow 11 inches the next.
There is a saying here in Colorado, "If you don't like the weather, wait 2 hours and it will change".
