Boulder's 4th of July Celebration is Officially Back!
Join us at Folsom Field for a whole new experience as we showcase Boulder’s first night sky drone show in place of traditional fireworks. Folsom Field’s 4th of July Spectacular: a Night Sky Drone Show is free and open to the public. Gates open at 7:00pm featuring live music from Funkiphino, The Custom Shop Band and School of Rock.
The Drones:
This innovative and creative alternative to traditional fireworks has many advantages for Boulder. As Boulder is an area where fire risk is always a consideration and has led to cancellations of the event in past years, safety was at the forefront of the decision to change how the 4th of July is celebrated at Folsom Field.
Safety:
Drones are much safer than traditional fireworks. They are not nearly as susceptible to wind or weather conditions, and they can be operated with precision and control. This means that there is a much lower risk of accidents, injuries, or fires.
Environmentally friendly:
Drones are a more environmentally friendly option than traditional fireworks. They do not produce any emissions or pollutants, and they do not leave behind any debris. This makes them a more sustainable option for celebrating special occasions.
Quieter:
The loud noises from fireworks can be startling and disruptive for people, pets and wildlife. Those with sensory sensitivities or who live in close proximity to where fireworks are being set off are especially affected. Drones, on the other hand, are much quieter and can be used to create a visually stunning display without the noise pollution.
More creative possibilities:
Drones offer more creative possibilities than traditional fireworks. They can be programmed to fly in formation, create shapes and patterns, and even light up the night sky with messages or images. This makes them a more versatile and engaging option for creating a memorable experience.

The Sponsors:
WK Real Estate has been proudly sponsoring the 4th of July celebration in partnership with the City of Boulder and the University of Colorado for more than 20 years. Dan Kingdom, managing broker and owner of WK Real Estate, warmly remembers going to Folsom Field as a child with his parents and siblings every year.
“As community is such a huge aspect and focus with everything we do here at WK Real Estate, it just seems like a such a natural fit for us to sponsor this event. We love seeing the families, the college members, the seniors and everyone in between coming together at Folsom Field. I loved it growing up, and I still love it now that I’ve grown and get to take my own kids to watch the show.”
The City of Boulder and University of Colorado feel that same way, as it’s a tradition filled with upbeat music, a lively atmosphere and a sense of peace and connectedness. Looking up at that Boulder sky with colors shining in perfect sync with the show’s music is such a special moment to share with loved ones that this tradition will be alive for many years to come!
