In the wake of devastating wildfires that have spread across Colorado and many surrounding states, many local businesses are joining forces to show support for those affected. As an active member of the Boulder community for more than 36 years, Wright Kingdom Real Estate and our associates wanted to give back to our local community that was affected by the Four Mile fire from two years ago and the most recent Flagstaff fire.
By teaming up with The Community Foundation of Boulder County, we hoped to leverage the support of our online community to raise awareness and increase donations for relief efforts. To accomplish this, we launched our Colorado wildfire relief Facebook campaign. Encouraging others to participate, Wright Kingdom and our associates made a $50 contribution to The Community Foundation of Boulder County for every “Like” or Share” of our Facebook Wildfire Relief photo, up to $25,000. Our Facebook campaign launched on Tuesday, July 17, 2012, and it took less than eight hours for us to reach our goal.
“Our goal with the Facebook campaign was to raise awareness about communities affected by the wildfires. By leveraging the support of our online community, our campaign successfully reached others in Hawaii, Virginia, Texas, Michigan and many other states. It is our hope that other community members felt encouraged to join the relief efforts and contribute to the cause as well via the links we posted on our site to the American Red Cross and CDFFF. We had an overwhelmingly positive response and are very appreciative to everyone who participated,” said Lew Kingdom, managing broker of Wright Kingdom Real Estate.
The decision to donate to Colorado wildfire relief was made after the recent cancellation of Ralphie’s Independence Day Blast due to the high fire danger.
