Our local community is our first priority. As we entered the year, we sought ways to #DoMore2018 and give back generously to our community. Earlier this month, we donated nearly 7,800 meals to Community Food Share, and next week, we are teaming up with Habitat for Humanity for a work day, besides our daily investment into our friends and clients as we help them transition through the home buying or selling process. Now, we're proud to present our most recent contribution to our incredible community: the WK Real Estate Scholarship at University of Colorado Boulder's Leeds School of Business.
The WK Real Estate Scholarship is available to students who have graduated from high school in the Colorado counties of Boulder, Broomfield, Weld, Larimer, Jefferson, and Gilpin. Our scholarship is for any student at the Leeds School of Business, and is not specific to real estate. Of all of the scholarships available at Leeds, only 19 are awarded based on financial need. With this in mind, we decided to base our scholarship on need, and give preference to students who are the first generation in their family to attend college. Two $2,500 scholarships will be awarded per year, beginning with the 2018/2019 school year.
While the Leeds School of Business will be selecting the recipients and WK Real Estate will not be involved in the selection process, chosen recipients are welcome to connect with us. WK Real Estate Scholarship recipients are invited to attend some of our weekly sales meetings, meet with our agents, and learn about real estate from local experts in our office.
We are excited to make this contribution to the rising generation within our communities. Our vision is to encourage the intelligence and passion of our local students, to help them flourish and become the successful leaders and change-makers of the future, starting right here at the University of Colorado Boulder. As we invest in our families, neighbors, and friends, we hope to relieve the financial burden from the bright minds around us and equip them to learn, grow, and become influential members of our community. We know this is only the beginning of Boulder County and the surrounding counties joining hands to #DoMore2018.
