Designed by Glen Huntington in 1937, the "Thornton House" is is a well known architectural gem near downtown Boulder. With its unique complexion, irresistible charm, and desirable location, this house has recently become available for sale!

The name "Thornton House" originates from the original owners of the house, Manford and Helen Thornton, who lived in the house for 50 years.  Manford Thornton  was a well-known Boulder businessman who owned and operated  Thornton's Shoes located on Pearl Street in downtown Boulder.

Glen Huntington was a Boulder architect and graduate of the University of Colorado. His designs include the Huntington Bandshell, the Huntington Apartments, the Boulder County Court House, and Boulder High School. During the 1930s, successful Boulder residents turned to Glen Huntington to build custom homes in the University Hill area.

Using the original blueprints, the current owners extensively renovated the house with modern touches, while seamlessly blending original exterior and interior features. The painted brick, casement windows, skylights and glass tiles all capture the original charm.

The "Thornton House"  (855 13th Street) is currently listed for sale for $1,585,000 by Portia Husted.
