THIS IS HOME
I am not a Colorado native, but I do call this my home. My mom convinced my dad to leave Florida and purchase a hobby farm in Hygiene back when Hygiene was a sleepy farming town with stock drives down Highway 66, a strong 4-H community, and a café that sold cinnamon rolls the size of your face. I have been fortunate to travel around the US and abroad, but no matter where I have traveled, I am always anxious to come back to the Front Range, to my home.
MY BACKGROUND
Ten years ago I started shoeing horses and when I met my husband we started a farrier business. Shortly afterwards, we started our family. It was not uncommon to see me shoeing a horse with my baby in her bouncy chair and my heeler laying protectively at her side. Today, I am the very happy mother of four wildly energetic kids. Our house resembles what I imagine a combination of what a rock concert and tornado both look and sound like, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. Every decision I make reflects the kind of wife and mother I want to be known as…honest, fair, compassionate, patient, thoughtful and hardworking. And I have my kids to thank for the organizational, multi-tasking and problem-solving abilities I have strengthened.
INFLUENCES
My dad was a huge influence in my life, and like my dad, I love the entrepreneurial lifestyle. For at least four generations, my family has successfully started and ran their own businesses from produce stands, to doughnut shops, life insurance, tack stores and horseshoeing. We have all shared an adventurous, determined spirit combined with a head for business.
TIME OFF
When I’m not taking care of my little ones, I love spending time with my horses. I have done hunter/jumpers, dressage, western pleasure, basic training for youngsters, ranch riding and look forward to learning team penning. As far as I’m concerned, everything looks better from the height of a horse, and all of life’s problems find perspective after a good ride.
