What do you love most about your house?
The flow and the light. Every room is bright and the flow of the house is really comfortable and works for our family, including our dog who gets to run on the open space all the time! The flow of the house is also great for parties and we’ve had quite a few. The other thing we adore is the complete privacy from every side and the fact that we are set back so far from the street. The privacy and quiet suits our nature.
What do you love most about the location of your house?
The nature and open space. It’s always changing with the seasons and time of day. There are spectacular sunrises and if the sunset looks to be especially exciting, my husband and I walk over to the pond to watch it . In winter, the long shadows look beautiful in the snow and the variety of birds year round and their singing is a constant source of fascination. I just love watching flocks of birds cut across the sky and land on one of the trees or in the field. We take daily walks with our dog who loves running off leash. Just looking out the window brings calm and “feeds the soul” as my neighbor likes to say. When I go out to get the paper in the morning, it’s pitch black out and I always take a moment to look up and see the stars in the sky – something you can’t do in the city. This place is the perfect balance of nature and being close to everything. Whole Foods is five minutes away and downtown is just 10 minutes, so we still feel plugged in to all the activity.
What other features do you like about the house?
I love the deck which never gets too hot because it’s on the north side. We have dinner outside nightly in the summer and relax on the weekends. We’ve had a lot of parties on that deck. The hot water radiant heat is great too and incredibly responsive. It gets warm immediately without the noise of blown air heat.
