Fall Decor for 2021

You Need Fall Décor? WK Has You Covered!

It’s time to start switching out those summer designs for the new season! Fall is just around the corner, with some of the most vibrant and evoking décor colors for your home. At WK Real Estate, we love to see all the orange, red, and gold popping up in nature, and in houses! Check out these neat ideas for how to heat up your home decoration for the upcoming Autumn.

At the Front Door

Front Door Wreath - The classic sign that Fall has arrived! A wreath shows that you're ready for falling leaves, the crisp crunch underfoot, and a scent of Autumn in the air. Craft your own festive wreath, or get a beautiful, store-bought one if you're short on time. If you opt to craft your own, it can make for a very cute date, a creative afternoon with your significant other, or a fun way to entertain the kiddos for a few hours.

Set a Mood in your Entryway - Do you plan on entertaining this fall? If so, start setting the tone for this season's festivities in the entryway. It's a beautiful sight to behold when you walk into the house and your space is full of warm, woodsy colors. You can feel a change in that atmosphere, especially if you're rushing inside to escape the chill outdoors! For even more warmth, throw some red fruits in a bowl, red flowers in a vase, or a matching pillow on the bench.

In the Living Area

Pillows, Couches, and Linens! - Swap out those summer pastels for deep, rich colors like chocolate, wine, and caramel. And, of course, plaid and patterns are perfect design pals for fall. Find your seasonal pillows, a blanket/throw, and all the soft accents that will keep you and your guests comfy and warm as you sit or sip in your living space.

Slipcovers - To keep things rolling, add in new slipcovers that you can find in autumnal hues. If that isn't an option for your space, you can always throw an Autumn blanket over the furniture to give it that fall feeling, but with the added bonus of getting to literally wrap yourself up in the warmth.

Paint an Accent Wall - Want to really change the way your room looks? Re-paint it! If you go this route, it helps to have a strong eye for color (or hire a professional). You don't want to finish painting your new "pumpkin-spice" wall, just to realize that your furniture and accents clash-a-latte with your color choice.

In the Kitchen

Gorgeous Gourds - Pumpkins are the obvious choice, but worth including in your design philosophy. In fact, they may be the simplest way to get your home in the fall spirit. If you want something a little fancier, add a wicker basket, some porcelain, and yarn. Guests will gush at your gourds!

Use Earthy Serving Platters - Speaking of fall entertaining, you can find lots of serving trays that add a rustic, earthy mood to your meal. A raw-wood cheese-board paired with dark plates in a cozy living room really sets the mood for fall.

Ready that Bar - Let's face it, the holiday season can invite a few warming rounds of drinks between friends and family. Keep your ingredients for fall cocktails close at hand. A cute shelf-runner or bar-cloth can serve double duty by warming the looks of your drinks, and potentially keeping spill/splash damage at bay. Remember, when crafting those drinks that a little bit of spice can go a long way!

Light a Seasonal Candle - Scent plays a huge role in the fall mood, so set the right tone in your home by lighting seasonal candles that make you feel cozy, warm, and ready for the holiday season. Think about smells like pumpkin-spice, cinnamon, vanilla, clove, and other "warm" spices when searching for that perfect candle.

In Your Bedroom

Add Thick Panels - With chillier nights ahead, try wrapping your sleeping space with warm cloth. Whether that means throwing on another blanket or two, or hanging panel cloth all around your four-post bedframe, consider the gusty winds outside and how you want the inner sanctum of your home to feel warm and comfy.

Throw on a Sheepskin or Faux Fur - A real sheepskin, or even faux fur, is prime cozy! Instead of using it as a rug, hang it on a chair for a more inviting seat. Your home aesthetic, as well as your skin, will thank you.

In the Kids' or Guest Bedroom

Add Earthy Accents - Those fresh, bright colors have got to go! Once again, we are bringing in the earthiness and rich hues of deep color to give a sensation of warmth to these rooms. Sheets, blankets, pillows, and even accent rugs can be swapped out for Autumn versions that will transform the experience for kids, or guests for that matter!

Accent With Orange - You can get the fall feeling year-round with inspired colors. Whether you lay the foundation with a different rug or you paint an accent wall, add a throw blanket, or set the table with a new tablecloth, introducing orange is a sure-fire way to usher in autumn.

Add Texture to The Bed - One of the easiest ways to transition a neutral bedroom from summer into fall? Add a dark fur throw. It'll be the best cuddle buddy the kids have ever had, and you won't have to worry about as many sniffly noses in the morning.

Don't Forget Your Bathrooms

You can go simple, or very advanced in bathrooms. Want to keep it easy? Swap out those summer-time, pastel-colored hand towels for towels that match your Autumn color scheme of red, orange, gold, or other colors. If you want to take it up one step, local shops typically have cute hand soap dispensers during this time of year. In fact, you can frequently find pumpkin-themed, turkey-styled, or other fall-y accent pieces that will quickly and easily shift the mood in that loo.

Want to step it up several notches, and impress all who step into the throne room? You can splurge on a new bathmat, shower curtain, mirror-frames with fall leaf insets, and an Autumn-colored vase with some long-lasting flowers (or get artificial ones that you can re-use for years). Top it off with an oil diffuser that you fill with clove, cinnamon, or your favorite fall scent. Of course, if you have the time, new wallpaper or repainting the walls with a warm color will make the whole room feel that much closer to the season. Luckily, most bathrooms have smaller square footprints than your other rooms in the house, so it shouldn't take too long to update.

Outside, on the Front or Back Porch

Pillows Outside - Outdoor pillows, or their water-resistant slip-covers should be traded out for fall-friendly colors. Going all-out, you could bring warm-toned glassware and dinnerware while dining outside, too. Light up that bonfire, kick back, and relax on the cooling nights with comfort and color.

Fall-ify Your Flowers - If you live in an area where you can keep plants alive through the fall season, then you may want to plant a few at the end of summer. They'll pop up and bloom just in time to say farewell to hot days. These flowers may work for you: Chrysanthemum, Pansy, Celosia, Croton, Aster, and Viola.

With all of these ideas, you should be set to go for fall decorating. It may seem like a lot, but the joy is that you get to pick and choose what resonates with you to bring Autumn into your house. Do you want the colors and smells? The warm, fuzzy blankets? Those accent walls? Or, all of it!?
Whatever your choice, you're sure to make an impact on the look and feel of your home. Enjoy your decorating. Enjoy your festivities. Enjoy your Fall!
