Did you know that the first major film festival was held in Venice in 1932? The first American Film Festival was in 1953 in San Francisco and is still a prestigious event known as The Chris Awards. Cannes, Sundance and Toronto may stand out to you, but our very own Boulder International Film Festival is every bit as magnificent.
Imagine, right here in our little town of Boulder, you can buy a ticket and hear Martin Sheen and William H. Macy promote current work and talk about their career. Ardee Imerman, one of Wright Kingdom’s top realtors, says “it was very exciting to be able to attend something with this kind of international flare. How cool is it to sit in the 10th row of the Boulder Theatre, a place we see so many types of local events, and hear William H. tell of his journey from days on stage to television and then film. He was quite articulate and humorous.”
Ardee also spoke highly of "The Lady”, a film about Nobel Laureate Aung San Suu Kyi and the gut wrenching choice she had to make between her country and her family. Another Wright Kingdom agent, TR Swanwick, was a volunteer for the entire event. He also enjoyed "The Lady” saying it made him sad, but he came away feeling so lucky and thankful to live in our country!
He also said “I love the idea of the film community being here in Boulder and the public having direct access to them, either at a screening or at a cocktail party! It was a 1st class event and a rewarding experience to be a part of.” There are many reasons we are lucky to live in Boulder, Colorado, and BIFF is one that makes me smile with pride!
