One day while stuck in terrible traffic going west on Arapahoe, I thought to myself, "Why am I sitting here stuck in traffic when I could be cycling to work?" That's when I decided to make a change for the better! I have found that cycling to work helps me appreciate the simple pleasures of life in Boulder. I am crazy about the Saturday morning summer farmer's market and I love the Boulder Creek trail that gets me there! I get such a delight seeing all my fellow townspeople out and about with me; enjoying the scene as much as I do!
The City
I am grateful that our city planners prioritized the walking/bike trails that enable to get to all corners of Boulder town. It takes me about 15 minutes from my house to the office. Although I only go about 10mph on bike, since I don't want to break a sweat! It's amazing how our bike system paths link us everywhere.
Advice to First Timers
If you're thinking about making the change to start biking to work, or any other destinations, I would recommend reviewing their daily agendas and looking for the spaces that enable time to cycle to work. I generally cycle to work in the early morning and then head back home around noon to grab lunch and head back out for client time with my car. Just a little forward planning adds a lot of healthy enjoyment to my day.
I hope that others will join me in my journey to becoming more ecofriendly while also enjoying the simpler things in life!
