Looking for a great spot to hunker down, enjoy a drink, and escape the chill of the day? Well, how about nine of them!? There are a bunch of coffee houses and tea shops in the Boulder and Longmont area. Here are some of our favorites.
Trident has been around for nearly 42 years. It officially opened for business in June of 1980. Back in 2020, eight longtime employees of Trident came together to jointly own the company, for the first time in its 40-years on Pearl Street. The bookstore and café create a warm and inviting cozy feeling as you step inside Trident.
Ampersand Coffee is a café focused on organic, sustainable brews. They serve up fair trade coffee that is the world’s first ROC coffee (Regenerative Organic Certified) through the Regenerative Organic Alliance. Stop in here for a cup of joe that makes you feel good, while doing a sip of good for the world, too!
At Tod's, they believe a great coffee shop should excel in two key areas: Quality of product, and quality of service. They absolutely nail it on the product side, using local suppliers like Spruce Confections, Burrito Del Mar, Sherpa and Sanctuary Chai, and award-winning beans from Conscious Coffee. Their service is top-notch as well, with friendly, knowledgable, and welcoming staff. Stroll by and stop in for a minute to enjoy a deliciously crafted espresso drink, or a piece of pie and hot chocolate with extra whipped cream. They’ve got great drinks, food, views, and people!
This beloved bakery of Boulder is known for its scones, cookies, cakes, cupcakes, and more. They’ve been serving up delectable treats since 1992! And, with 4 different locations, you’ll surely find one that suits your style.
Of the 5 different OZO Coffee locations dotted throughout the Boulder and Longmont area, you can find one with the vibe you’re day deserves. As a 2007 start-up, OZO has built its company on the core principles of service, quality, community, and sustainability. It is with their passion for the roast that they serve piping hot drinks, as well as bagged organic coffee beans for your own home-brewing.
Founded recently in 2017, Bona is an independent, family-owned roastery started by Andre Di Bonaventura. Sourcing their beans from all around the world, they strive to produce the “greatest coffee the world has ever tasted!” Reviewers point to how genuine, personable, and friendly the staff and environment are in this quaint coffee house.
Do you want more than just coffee? Maybe something a bit more health-focused or conscientious? Then, stop in here for an artisanal coffee, kombucha, or avocado toast! After opening in 2019, this café has grown with faith, ministry, and kind people. The Point is staffed by volunteers from Reach Church as well as the affiliated discipleship home.
Who would’ve thought that you could get coffee, a sweet treat, and some dry baking goods all in the same shop!? Folks rave about their bread, in particular the sourdough bread that they bake fresh. This is one where you may want to arrive early though, as they do occasionally sell out of products.
The coffee here is “outta this world!” With drinks like the “Nutty Astronaut,” “Milky Way,” and “Cosmic Energy,” you can try a bunch of unique flavors with an extraterrestrial twist. Their fans love the quirky atmosphere, fun drink names, and speedy service in downtown Boulder.
Of course, this list is not exhaustive. There are so many coffee and tea shops around, there’s no way we could rank them all. However, stopping in at one of these shops will secure warmth for your hands, and your tummy too! So get out there, pick a shop, and find yourself relaxing into a steaming mug of joy.
