Good Neighbor Award winners keep on giving. Now, the REALTOR® organization is giving seven past honorees an additional $5,000 grants for their community cause. The surprise gifts were made by NAR President Chris Polychron, on behalf of 226 volunteer leaders who have served the association at the national, state, and local level.
Wright Kingdom Broker Associate, Judy Pitt received the Good Neighbor Award in 2011 for her charitable work in Kenya. Judy continues her work with Kazi Yake to bring potable water and hygiene information to rural villages in western Kenya, where children die every day due to remediable ailments such as diarrhea, malaria, typhus, and cholera that are brought on by tainted water. This year Kazi Yake is currently working to install rain harvesting catchment systems for widows and their families in Suswa, Kenya where wells are not able to be installed because of the volcanic soil.
