Sometimes it's nice to just slow down and take in everything around us. One great way to do this is to take a leisurely drive. Great news is that Colorado is filled with so many beautiful roads! Hit the road and cruise along one of these beautiful, scenic roads around Boulder County with the windows down and John Mayer playing in the background.

The Peak to Peak Scenic and Historic Byway
This is one of Colorado's oldest scenic byway that winds 55 miles in an out of national forest land. There are two different ways to travel out of Boulder. Take Canyon Blvd (Highway 119) into Nederland then travel north on Highway 72 to Estes Park or travel south on Highway 119 into Blackhawk and Central City. Make this adventure a full day out and pack a lunch to enjoy at several of the beautiful stops along the way such as Boulder Falls or St. Malo's Chapel on the Rock.
Flatirons Vista Scenic Drive
Enjoy a 40 minute drive with stunning views of the Flatirons. Start by traveling south on Highway 93, then take Highway 128 southwest until it meets McCaslin Road. Take McCaslin Road to Highway 36. Then travel north on Highway 36 back into Boulder.
Eldorado Canyon
Take a drive into the Eldorado Canyon State Park on this drive! There will be plenty to see between the sandstone cliffs and Coal Creek. Start by traveling south on Highway 93 to Eldorado Springs Drive- which will take you into the park. There is an entry fee. If you do not want to enter, backtrack east on Highway 170 to get back on Highway 93. From there travel west on Coal Creek Canyon. Return back to Boulder via Gross Dam Road and the Flagstaff Road.
Trail Ridge Road
This stunning road is located up in Rocky Mountain National Park in Estes. It would be a great addition onto your day if you take the Peak to Peak Byway into Estes. Trail Ridge Road is North America's highest road (in terms of elevation) and happens to cross the Continental Divide. While driving keep an eye out for the abundant alpine tundra wildlife like elk and bighorn sheep!
